Here's to a nogarific group!

I also enjoyed our finale tonight, though finales in general tend to be bittersweet, don't they? I really am amazed and thankful for the way God orchestrated us to be the noggies this summer. It's actually an example of how God can take "just another Bible study" and do more than we can ask or hope.

As it is past midnight and I am still sitting at the church waiting for my class reunion books to finish printing (okay, so I may be hoping for a bit of sympathy), I thought I'd do a little research on possible future plans for our group. As a few of us chatted after our meeting tonight, we wondered about the possibility of reading a book together and discussing via this blog and then maybe meeting together just once a month. Feedback on this idea would be welcome!

I mentioned one book that seemed similar to the issue that Brianne suggested in her email, having conversations with fellow Christians about ways we accept certain sinful behaviors in our lives. One of the ABC Groups is doing a book called Respectable Sins, which discusses a similar topic. In reading a little about it, it sounds like its focus is on the sins we accept as Christians and the Church more than how to talk to others about it, but I do think it sounds pretty good. If you want to read more about it, this blog had some good feedback (or you can also find it on Amazon.com and read an excerpt): http://spurgeon.wordpress.com/2007/09/24/respectable-sins-by-jerry-bridges-9781600061400-1600061400/.

So, this is just a possibility. Thoughts are welcome. My thoughts are no longer useful to anyone, so I must go check the printer and then hopefully go home!

Good morning!

I am also open to this. The book sounds great. I would be up for it or any other book suggestion. I don't have any of my own to suggest right now ...

I'd also be up for this (but also open to other ideas that come up.) I love to read and I love to blog, so what could be better? (Other than still getting together, that is!) I've long had this book in my Amazon.com shopping cart waiting for the right time to buy, so maybe that time is now.

I'm guessing if we felt conviction through the NOG study we'd better get ready to really ramp it up with this one... I'm convicted of multiple things just reading the list of "respectable sins." But you know, if those things are part of what's taking up room that I need to clear out for God, I'm up for it.

I think it would be interesting to try it out and see how it goes. It would certainly test my dedication to it if I don't have the meeting to be held somewhat accountable. But maybe that's a good thing...I'd work on it more because I was ready and willing vs having to because it was time to meet again...follow that?

I'm flexible on the book. The one suggested sounds good.

And no word yet on the pottery. They were closed today.

Hi fellow Noggies!
Wow, the respectable sins book looks pretty awesome...definitely would challenge us to become more holy which is one of Pastor Korver's goals for us this year (Take time to be holy). Here are just a few "respectable" sins that caught my eye...anxieties, discontentment, selfishness, impatience, anger...ok I'll stop there cuz the list could go on and on now that I read it again...

I'm all for reading the book, blogging, and getting together monthly:)
