Empty Me, a.k.a. Make Room

After reading Tiff's comment on Beth's post that caused us all to start reminiscing about the Spice Girls (ahem), Tiff mentioned how she often prays that the words she sings would be true of her, or would become her desire ... it made me think of a song I've been hearing more and more on the radio. It is exactly what we've been talking about. Just thought I'd share, cause that's what friends (and blogs) are for. :)

Empty Me
By Chris Sligh

I've had just enough of the spotlight when it burns bright
To see how it gets in the blood.
And I've tasted my share of the sweet life and the wild ride
And found a little is not quite enough.
I know how I can stray
And how fast my heart could change.
Empty me of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition and the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me so I can be filled with you.
I've seen just enough of the quick buys of the best lies
To know how prodigals can be drawn away.
I know how I can stray
And how fast my heart could change.
Empty me of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition and the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me so I can be filled with you.
Cause everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you, compared to you.
Cause everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you so why surrender all?
Empty me of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition and the poison of my pride
Empty me of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition and the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me so I can be
Lord empty me of me so I can be filled with you.
Oh, filled with you.
Empty me.

Wow, what a perfect song. I have never heard it. Thanks for sharing, Rochelle! I will play and replay that one. And again, we are apparently all normal (or all psycho) because someone even wrote a song about it! (And it must be said, that guy has some hair!)

I think Rochelle has found us the Nog Theme Song! That is just so amazingly fitting. And yes, comforting to know that as we sit together and discuss our somewhat psychotic tendencies (I still giggle when I picture Bri sprinting with her shirt held out in front!), there is a man (with major hair and Drew Carey-ish glasses) out there singing the very same thoughts to large audiences (and making money off of it). We are not alone!

On a side note....I would like to know when I got so old and out of touch with technology. When did I turn into my mother who has to call people to ask them how to do things on her computer while they roll their eyes at her ignorance? I couldn't post a video on here if you paid me! (I'd try to figure out if you were paying enough, though.) It takes me ages just to proofread well enough to make sure I have no major typos, and even then I think I miss some.

Anyway, thanks for sharing Rochelle. I need to figure out how to place that song somewhere I can access it easily for repeat playing. Maybe I can listen to it in my van with my Yankee candle air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror. :)
